With dozens of clubs in the Hongdae party scene, in order to stand out a venue needs to provide something unique and entertaining. Club Cocoon sports one of the liveliest and most progressive atmospheres in Korea, and together with good prices and good music result in it being one of the top clubs north of the Han River.
Cocoon is one of the biggest clubs in Hongdae, easily identifiable on weekends by the long line of people waiting for entrance. The DJs play a mix of hip hop, R&B, and pop — music chosen to entice dancing and ensure the dance floor is always crowded. Although at times it can be packed, this can be a good thing, as it allows you to remain hidden among the crowd and let loose without worrying about people watching.
The prices at Cocoon are good considering the popular nature of the venue and the amount of traffic they receive. A bottle of Absolut runs 120,000 KRW and a table for 8 only costs 250,000 KRW. All music is provided by their resident DJs, which allows them to keep their prices low and their customers happy.
Cocoon’s promotions aim to keep the crowd hot. From Friday through Sunday, ladies not only get free entrance but free tequila as well. Late in the night the dance floor heats up — 2:00 to 3:00am is “boobiboobi time,” which essentially means “dance and grind” in Korean. And in August, Friday and Saturday nights are bikini parties. Yes, bikini parties. Bikini’s aren’t required to enter, but are definitely encouraged.
Although Hongdae has many places to party at, Cocoon’s unique atmosphere makes it a great choice for your Friday or Saturday night. With good music and cheap drinks, Cocoon is the perfect place to let loose.

The Good
- Music is aptly chosen specifically for dancing

Directions
