Your Guide to Premium Nightlife in Seoul

Every once in a while, we will give you updates on what is happening with scenes in Seoul.

1. Obituary : Serein

Serein at Garosu-gil, Sinsa, famous for their variety of mojitos, is unfortunately closed. I heard from one of the personnel that they however will be preparing for another venue.

2. #1 Mixologist Leaves Blush @ Intercon.

Max, #1-ranked mixologist in Korea, just recently left Blush, Intercontinental to join Banyan Tree. This is a big news for all the cocktail lovers out there. Now, to try the nation’s best cocktails you need to go to Banyan Tree, which require steep, and very steep, membership fees.

Rival Famous mixologist named JJ also left Coffee Bar K at Cheongdam a few months ago to join Diageo’s brand  ambassador.  Where do we now go for good cocktails in Seoul, now that both award-winning masters of cocktail concoction are gone?  We will find that out for you and let you know!

Read more news after the jump.

3. New Clubs Opening in Seoul

Several clubs are rumored to open this year, including at least one megaclub that will feature different types of music. A new club is also to open in Itaewon very soon.

4. S Bar Revival Under Renovation

Earlier, we mentioned that S Bar in Cheongdam was closed. There is a banner that hangs on the building now that says S Bar is being renovated. Also, this is confirmed from another independent source. At this point, we don’t know anything about when S Bar will reopen, but expect this to be one of the hottest places in Cheongdam again!

5. Club Volume Reopening

Club Volume was under renovation for a while now.  They will be opening again with Paul Oakenfold this weekend and it will surely be one of the grandest opening of any club yet!

Mojitos in Korea, other than at Serein, have tasted weird to me. any other place I can get a good one from?

  • Amy

What are you talking about? Mojitos pretty much all taste the same. They are simple to make.

  • Cheongdam-dong

Lee have you tried 74 in Cheongdam? Really pricey at 20,000 won a drink, but their cinnamon mojito is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life.

  • Ryan

They’re seriously opening up another megaclub? That would be so awesome, but I feel bad for club heaven. They spent a lot of money to build that place, and Seoul’s party scene is so ADD that as soon as a new club opens, the last one just isn’t “cool” anymore. Seoul’s turnover rate on a “hot” club is like 1 year lol, I bet you club eden will “renovate” soon and change its name.

  • Liz

lol you know what? they had a lot of options but i didn’t think serein’s mojitos were very good. loved the food though.

  • AskReeves

I was at Heaven last weekend and it was packed even on the second floor. at this rate heaven might not ‘die’ per say even if a new one opens. like how eden is still good even after heaven opened (and answer reopened)

  • MisterK

Serein is closed? I used to hit that place up a lot last summer. I’m pretty sure the location is the reason…so hidden in the back streets of garosugil.

  • Jaebum

Not sure if you guys cover booking / night clubs, but I hear the famous Club-I by Club Answer is closed for renovations.

Also super excited about S-bar re-opening…that used to be THE SPOT back in the days. Hopefully they can take back that title.

  • Laura

good place closing, new place opening… story of seoul ^-^
