Every once in a while, we will give you updates on what is happening with scenes in Seoul.

More news after the jump on 1. new lounges that opened up recently in Itaewon; 2. Woodstock Festival coming to Korea; 3. restaurant openings and general trends; 4. afterclub in the works; 5. S-Bar’s transformation.

1. New lounges in Itaewon

Two new posh clubs/lounges opened in Itaewon, both behind Hamilton Hotel. This is a great addition to Itaewon club scene, dominated primarily by Volume, B1 (B-One) and Function.

  • Luv Lounge – The new ‘it’ place in Itaewon featuring a very long bar and posh interior

Location: All the way on the left side of the back alley of Hamilton Hotel (Itaewon Stn. exit #2) – Make a right at KFC, make a left up the hill and walk all the way down. Luv is on your right.

  • Mu Lounge – Outdoor club lounge, very unique and impressive design

Location: Right behind Hamilton Hotel (Itaewon Stn. exit #2)

  • Between – 2 floors of tapas, wine and modern interior

Location: Get out at Itaewon Stn. exit #2 and walk straight for 200 meters. Between is on your left.

2. Woodstock Festival Coming to Korea

We heard that one of the largest music festivals will be here in the DMZ park. It will be held in August 6-8. It is to feature one of the largest rock & house music festival in Seoul.

3. Restaurant information

  • Brazilian churrasco gaining popularity in Seoul

New Brazilian churassco restaurants are popping up in different areas of Seoul. Famous churrasco places like Copacabana in Itaewon (behind Hamilton Hotel) and Mercado (near Hakdong Sagori) are impossible to dine in unless you make reservation well in advance.

  • D6 fusion restaurant opening in Cheongdam

A posh restaurant that specializes in serving made-to-order dishes opened recently in Cheongdam, right above Antonio’s. D6 features course menus where you could request almost any dish to be prepared for you, so long as you make reservation ahead of time.

4. A new afterclub in the works

  • New afterclub to open near Seolleung

Rumors have it that a new afterclub is in the works in Seolleung…. Hmmm wait, could this mean Miro, one of the original afterclubs in Seoul located across from Ramada Hotel, will be renovated?

5. S-Bar @ Cheongdam turns into a karaoke

S-Bar has undergone major renovations and reborn as a karaoke. We have yet to check out the inside – but it can’t possibly be too different from other karaoke bars near Cheongdam. One thing is for certain; it probably is the largest karaoke in the area.

  • James

I checked out Mu while I was at LUV last night — it’s absolutely sick. The entire roof gets pulled back, resulting in a lounge-club that’s open to the night sky. Drinks were very reasonable too, at around W6,000 a cocktail. This could easily become a new hotspot.

Between has their official launch party this Sunday, so I’ll drop by to check it out and come back with the full scoop.
